  I'm A Big Boy Now!

dmr 77 Los Alamitos is mainly a quarter horse track located in Southern California. It started out as a non betting facility in 1947 on a private ranch. In 1951 it was granted a license to conduct pari- mutual wagering on quarter horses. In 1994 the state of California allowed Los Alamitos to conduct thoroughbred racing which is usually conducted at four and one half furlong.

It is hard to believe but Los Alamitos presents the race with the richest purse in California the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity.

In 2011 Los Alamitos celebrated 60 years of racing as it ran it's January to December schedule. Cruz Mendez came away with the riding title. Racing returns in 2012.

In 2014 Los Alamitos, became a winner with the breakup of Hollywood Park. The Los Alamitos racing surface has been expanded to a mile to accommodate it's inaugural thoroughbred meet, which picks up part of the dates vacated by Hollywood Park.
