  Instantly Racing Back!

Wyoming Downs Wyoming Downs was located in Evanston which is in the lower left corner of the state on the Utah border, hoping to draw fans from the Salt Lake area. After a twenty year run the track closed over a dispute with the Wyoming Racing Commission over the number of live dates they needed to run to keep simulcasting.

Not big on thoroughbreds it did have two futuritys the Silver Dollar and Diamond Classic that had $100,000 purses. Wyoming Downs had a purse value index of 1 its premier Thoroughbred race the Bettie Bullock Memorial Derby had a purse of $4,000.

In 2011 the track went on the auction block a local horseman was attempting to purchase the property and try to return racing in 2012.

Thanks to the legalization of instant gaming in Wyoming, the track with the open air grandstand with a seating capacity of 2,100 will make a return to live racing in 2014. After a five year hiatus 16 days of live racing will be held in Evanston.
