Frontier Days!
The Walla Walla
Fairgrounds was first opened in 1866, it's anybody's guess if any type
of racing went on at that time. In the modern era, Walla Walla was part
of the Blue Mountain Fair Circuit.
Like the tracks at Dayton and Waitsburg, Walla Walla also went out of business in 2010. Walla Walla appeared to be the largest of the meets, with a larger grandstand that had a capacity for 3,000 patrons. Walla Walla also had five days of racing as opposed to two run at the other fairs.
Walla Walla ran a split meet with two days in May, and come back for three days in late August and early September. The last race ever, or for now at Walla Walla was won by Gassen Royal with local favorite Joe Crispen up. In May Gassen Royal won the Queen's Derby at Waitsburg, which was also the last race ever run there.
