Unlike the other
Class II tracks in Texas Trinity Meadows did not exist before pari-mutual
racing was legalized, but it didn't do any better than the others .
Opened in 1991 on the outskirts of Fort Worth it went out of business in 1996 after some bitter battles with Lone Star Park over a Class I license.
Trinity Meadows was renamed Squaw Creek Downs and at some point an effort was made to re-open the track. That effort did not gain enough support and the facility remains closed.
I made it to Trinity Meadows in 2013, the track is for sale if your in the market. The track surface and the infield are a little overrun but the grandstand is still standing and seems to be in pretty good shape.
