BIOGRAPHY |
Linda Richmond followed her twin sister's lead and left the family homestead in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania for nearby Waterford Park in 1970. On April 15, she rode her first mount Broken Bit, they finished off the board, but she wouldn't have to wait long to find the winners circle.
Five days later she scored with More Brandy, her first of over 750 wins, things were looking good. Well they might have been, if not for her husband, because of him she got booted out of West Virginia. Looking to start over they headed for Florida.
For the next seven years she rode in Florida, splitting time between Tampa and Miami. In 1979 she returned up North, riding at the Commodore meet in Erie, Pennsylvania. The next year she returned from exile to West Virginia and stayed for good. She would ride the next nineteen years at the Chester oval, splitting time between there and Thistledowns. Her final race was in 2002, when she showed up for one last race in Chester, at what was now called Mountaineer Park. Her mount on July 8th was Zanquilarga a mare, that she herself bred and her sister trained, they finished off the board.
