Harness racing in Cumberland is conducted annually as part of the Cumberland County Fair. The Cumberland fair is a unique stop on the Maine Agricultural racing circuit in that it has an enclosed grandstand and does conduct some night racing. Racing is held on a half mile oval, with Maine Sire Stakes races the highight of the meet.

It is recorded that the Cumberland Fair begin in 1868, and that harness racing was conducted on main street. A few years later a one third mile track was constructed and racing has gone on since.

Cumberland is a notable stop on the Maine Agricultural Circuit in that it is the only venue to offer night racing. The first night races date back to 1948.

I have been been to Cumberland a couple of time about all I remember was that it was cold and it was at night.
