An Oasis in the Desert!
Looking like a miniature Santa Anita with beautifully landscaped grounds dotted with palm trees and a backdrop of purple mountains Turf Paradise is truly an Oasis for horseracing. Over the year civilization has crept in on Turf Paradise and original race goers would probably not recognize the site.
Not only is it rare to see a place so well maintained but also to see a facility that is surviving without the presence of a Racino. The racing may not be world class but with it's inner turf course Turf Paradise provides a well balanced condition book in a somewhat tropical climate while northern tracks who now run year round must contend with the weather.
Just like Saratoga and Churchill Downs Turf Paradise is definitely a place every horseplayer should visit and no mater how good things look nothing last forever. Turf Paradise maintains only a purse value index of 14.
In 2011 Turf Paradise continued it's 2010 meet till the end of May, which is it's normal schedule. Ry Eikleberry won the leading rider title. Racing resumes late 2011 into 2012.
The 2011 season ended on May 6, 2012 after another successful year. Jockey Jorge Carreno ran away with the riding title. Racing resumes in late 2012.
